The latest research demonstrates how the interactions of certain brain regions at rest become more distributed as a person ages. It is believed that an increased understanding of normal brain function will allow researchers to better characterize mental disorders such as attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder.img src="http://feeds2.feedburner.com/~r/BrainMysteries/~4/35Pd8gS3CRQ" height="1" width="1"/

Though only five months old, the study's cuties indicated through their curious stares that they could differentiate water in a glass from solid blue material that looked very much like water in a similar glass. The study builds upon research showing that babies are not blank slates who primarily depend on others for acquiring knowledge.img src="http://feeds2.feedburner.com/~r/BrainMysteries/~4/MtJ3G48UQS8" height="1" width="1"/

Bipolar Information
Thursday, May 7th, 2009
BRI have found some websites with very helpful information for those who are suffering fromnbsp; Bipolar Disorder themselves or are dealing with a loved one whonbsp;is Bipolar.nbsp;nbsp; Many of you know that my brother, David is bipolar.nbsp; He used to write articles on this blog.nbsp; In fact you can find some of his articles in the earlier archives.nbsp;nbsp; Recently, I learned that another of my loved ones has been diagnosed as bipolar.nbsp; That's when I started reading again about this mental health problem.nbsp; BRBRSometimes it's hard to know how best to help someone who is suffering.nbsp; I think understanding the illness is probably the key.nbsp;nbsp; I have a lot of depression so I feel like I understand the depressive side of being bipolar.nbsp;nbsp; I have no experience with the manic stages of being bipolar so am trying to learn all I can, so that I can understand and be supportive of my loved ones.nbsp;nbsp; I hope the following articles will be of help to some of you whether you are suffering from bipolar disorder or if you know someone who is. BRBRThen National Institute of Mental Health website offers a good publication about A href="http://www.nimh.nih.gov/health/publications/bipolar-disorder/complete-index.shtml" target=_blankBipolar Disorder/A.nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;Two other articles I've located are EMA href="http://psychcentral.com/lib/2007/an-introduction-to-bipolar-disorder/" target=_blankEMAn Introduction to Bipolar Disorder /EM/A/EMand EMA href="http://blogs.psychcentral.com/bipolar/2009/04/spotting-the-early-warning-signs-of-a-bipolar-mood-episode/"EMSpotting the Early Warning Signs of a Bipolar Mood Episode./EM/A/EM Both articles are onnbsp;the Psych Central website.nbsp;nbsp; Another good article I found is at the Webnbsp;MD site, A href="http://www.webmd.com/bipolar-disorder/guide/bipolar-disorder-symptoms-types" target=_blankEMBipolar Disorder EM/EM/EM/A.nbsp; BRBRI know that those who suffer from Bipolar Disorder need the love and supportnbsp;of their family and friends.nbsp; This illness cannbsp;be helped with medication and therapy but it can also wreck havoc on relationships.nbsp;nbsp; Be prepared to hang in there when your loved one is struggling with his moods.nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;BRBRSTRONGMy Brother, David BR/STRONGA href="http://his-hers.ozzieblackcat.com/" target=_blankIMG style="WIDTH: 146px; HEIGHT: 204px" height=563 src="http://images.quickblogcast.com/48202-43758/David_bmp.jpg" width=265 border=0/A

Writer’s Block
Tuesday, May 5th, 2009
I apologize for not writing any new posts for so long.nbsp; I guess I have been experiencing "writer's block".nbsp;nbsp; I believe it is due to my overall feeling of depression lately.nbsp;nbsp; The weather here in Southwest Missouri has been so terribly rainy and dreary that I'm sure it is contributing to my mental block....er....writer's block.nbsp;nbsp; BRBRPlease check back again soon, as I hope to endnbsp;this mental health holidaynbsp;in a few days. nbsp; I've bookmarked some interesting websites to share with younbsp;soon.

This is the first study to examine the influence of concurrent stereotypes, one negative and one positive. It also demonstrated how the negative stereotype encroached on working memory while the positive stereotype did not.img src="http://feeds2.feedburner.com/~r/BrainMysteries/~4/6iQkRaklH48" height="1" width="1"/
