Diet: balanced: Priority vegetables, salads and fruits, less meat/poultry(too many hormones) and artificially bred fish--> occasionally eat fresh ocean fish never lake or river fish!!!! replace meat with nuts which contain more protein and less cholesterol, also whole wheat grained bred(dark bred), dairy products with less fat 1%, do not drink tap water always spring water avoid deserts except dark chocolates avoid habitual alcohol cigarettes drugs etc. avoid canned foods except sardines, never never never eat fast foods, avoid restaurants that serve not healthy foods.

Psychologically and spiritual factors:
Be good, kind compassionate, faithful believe.
listen to your hear and soul. avoid anger jealousy, fear, insecurity. try and transcend negativities. The psychological and spritual self are important factors. Poetry and religion can help.
Lead a meaningful life which includes work and or study. Surrounded yourself with good people. Choose your friends.

Exercises aerobics/weightlifting and sex
Appearance is very important and dress and washing too as they also too contribute to moral and well being . Grooming shaving etc..Give yourself freedom to dress. Emphasis should be placed on creams for skin etc...
the list can go on and and on and on....but should come naturally not devised.

I have been doing this for years.Up at 2am,1 1/2 hours to get things done and prepare for work, out the door at around 330am for a 32 mile bicycle ride to work by 6am,catch the bus home after 8 or 10 hrs of work, home at 615pm,eat walk dogs, get stuff done,in bed by 8pm.
I take a nap at lunch,I don't over eat,and try to eat healthy foods like beans and veggies, but have a weakness for hamburger,I love it.
My co-workers think I'm nuts, and tell me so,while I bury them in efficiency and run circles around them.It Ususally takes me 1 hour and 40 minutes to get to work, but on good days as little as 1 hr 15 min.
Get rid of your car,you don't need it,you are a coronary bypass in the making, the medical industry loves you to be unhealthy and in need of medical care.
I am 46 years old.

I was never diagnosed with depression but I know it is there. I don’t take medication and I don’t speak to any professional about it. I am 24 and I have had 2 hip surgeries, last one resulting in a total hip replacement. All of this is due to a car accident where an older gentleman hit me head-on doing over 100mph after having a seizure. I have gotten suicidal thoughts and I still get them from time to time. This has nothing to do with being self-centered at all. Try living with pain on a 24/7 time schedule, trying to guess how much pain your going to have that day and how long you can bare it. Then think about how long you have to live with this constantly increasing pain, and the other possible hip replacements during your lifetime since your only 24. This is a very terrible burden to carry around and it certainly is difficult to make the best out of life after something like this.

Articles like this are written in an effort to educate those with attitudes reflected in the comment of "passerby." Maybe next time, you should read the article prior to making comments.
The article was very informative, well-written, and I felt, provided valuable information. The relationship between provider/client is critical to regaining one's health.

A good explanation and all very true. I was diagnosed with depression 4 years ago and I had no idea how deeply it was running and ruining my life. Thoughts of inadequacy and sadness turned inward. Angry all the time. Wellbutrin (Bupropion Hydrachloride)literally saved my life but, unfortunately, too late to save my marriage.
Help is out there, see a professional.

Have suffered from depression off & on for several years. Even spent a few weeks in the hospital. If I had one wish, it would be for people to honestly regard this as a legitimate disease. It can happen to anybody at anytime. The person who is depressed aches to feel better and wants a reprieve from the thoughts and feelings more than anybody can possibly imagine. Take a few minutes and educate yourself on this disease. Somebody you love may need you to understand it someday.
